EASTER AND PASSOVER SEDER DINNER
This week, we have another complex wine pairing to focus on and an excuse to drink. As always, wine pairing for festivities is an art. For Easter or Passover, multiple combinations are possible depending on the food served and your own personal tastes. Personally, I will be making a leg of lamb with roasted potatoes and I will pair it with a rustic Southern Rhone red wine like a Gigondas or Vacqueyras.
You might pick something different, which is why we are illustrating wine pairing for the various food selections below for your Passover Seder or Easter meal.
To note: all wines picked are under $50.
EASTER DINNER
Pick number 1: A leg of la mb with roasted potatoes goes well with a rustic/spicy wine. Here we picked a wine from the Southern Rhone valley in France - Domaine du Cayron - AOC Gigondas - 2012 - Blend: 70% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 14% Syrah and 1% Mourvèdre.

Pick number 2: A poultry dish with some vegetables can be paired with a light body and fruit forward wine. Our pick number 2 is from California - Joseph Swan - Russian River Valley - Pinot Noir - 2012
Pick number 3: A fine rich fish with some roasted vegetables is good to pair with an oaky/buttery chardonnay. Here we will go with another Californian wine - Maldonado - Paar Vineyard - Chardonnay - 2013
PASSOVER SEDER DINNER
Pick number 4: Which wine goes with your Passover Seder plate? A traditional Seder plate is rich in flavors (meat, egg, vegetables, fruit, nuts, and bitter herbs) therefore we suggest a wine with character, almost similar to our pick number 1 , which is rustic/spicy but also with some herbal notes. Our choice is a wine from Israel - Carmel Winery Blend -Carmel Mediterranean - 2010 - Blend: 37% Carignan, 26% Shiraz, 20% Petit Verdot, 15% Petit Sirah and 2% Viogner.

Pick number 5: If you do not like dry red wines with your Passover Seder plate we have another alternative. This kosher wine is an creamy and oaky chardonnay. Our pick is a from Californian - Hagafen - Oak Knoll District - 2010 -Chardonnay.
We hope you will find our wine pairing suggestions clear and that they will direct you to make the perfect selection.
